Hi, I'm Hartman Andersen.

I help people protect what they've worked their whole lives to build — and turn it into a retirement they can actually enjoy.

Hartman Andersen

25+ years of serving people, now focused on retirement.

I've spent more than 25 years serving clients across the computer, healthcare, and financial industries — careers that, at first glance, may seem unrelated, but each one shaped how I work today: technical problem-solving, deep care for people, and a commitment to doing things right.

I received a double bachelor's degree from BYU and a doctorate from Life West. As a young man, I served a mission in Bolivia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where I became fluent in Spanish — something I still use today when serving Spanish-speaking clients.

I became a financial advisor in 2015, and it didn't take long for me to recognize where I could make the biggest difference: helping people approaching or already in retirement. So many of the people I met had done everything right — saved diligently, lived below their means, raised families — but were anxious about whether their savings would last or whether the next market downturn would set them back. That's the work I love: building plans that bring clarity, coordination, and confidence to the most important financial chapter of someone's life.

I'm also deeply committed to education. I teach Retirement Wealth Academy courses at local colleges, universities, and libraries throughout the region — helping pre-retirees and retirees understand the decisions ahead of them, often before they ever sit down with an advisor.

As an Investment Advisor Representative with a fiduciary duty, my focus is straightforward: design a comprehensive plan that works to protect your hard-earned retirement.

My philosophy

What I believe about retirement.

Protecting principal isn't conservative — it's smart.

The financial industry loves to talk about returns. For someone in their 30s with 40 years of working ahead of them, returns matter most. For someone in their 60s with limited earning years left, what you don't lose matters more than what you might gain. A 40% portfolio loss requires a 67% gain just to break even — and most retirees don't have the time horizon or stomach for that recovery.

A good retirement plan is more than an investment portfolio.

Investments are one piece. Social Security timing is another. Tax planning is a third. Healthcare costs, long-term care, estate planning, insurance — they're all pieces of the same puzzle. The biggest financial mistakes I see retirees make aren't investment mistakes. They're coordination mistakes — making one decision in isolation without seeing how it ripples through the others.

Honest conversation beats financial jargon.

You shouldn't need a finance degree to understand your own retirement plan. If I can't explain something to you in plain language, that's my problem — not yours. We'll talk about your money like adults talking about something that matters.

Your money is yours. Your plan is yours. I'm here to serve.

Some advisors talk like they're doing you a favor by managing your money. That's backward. You earned every dollar. My job is to help you protect it, grow it sensibly, and use it for the life you want. That's it.

Outside of work

When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me on the pickleball courts, with my family, or both. I live in St. George, Utah with my wife — we have adult children and were drawn to southern Utah for the landscape, the climate, and the community.

My wife is the photographer in the family, and we love exploring the natural beauty of the region together. I'm active in the local community and serve clients across St. George and Northern Utah, Nevada, Southern California, and nationwide via video meetings.

How we work together

What can you expect if we work together?

If we decide to work together, here's what the relationship looks like.

See our process
  • A real plan, not a pitch. We start with discovery, then build a written plan tailored to your situation.
  • Coordinated decisions — investments, taxes, Social Security, estate, insurance — all working together, not at cross-purposes.
  • Regular reviews — typically twice a year for formal meetings, plus calls or emails as life happens.
  • Direct access to me, not a junior advisor or a 1-800 number.
  • Transparent fees with no hidden incentives.
  • A long-term relationship — many of our clients have been with us for years, and we treat the work that way.

Let's talk.

The first conversation is complimentary and no-obligation. We'll discuss your situation, answer your questions, and figure out together whether we're the right fit.
